Luther ‘Buck’ Moler, 86 of Hillsboro, died Sunday, July 16, 2023, at HSHS St.  John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Aug. 5,  at 1 p.m. in Cress Hill Cemetery with Pastor Randy Sands officiating. Hough and Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mr. Moler was born Dec. 12, 1936, in Decatur, to Martin Luther and Nellie Florence Moler. He married Donna Lou Hallers of Hillsboro on July 5, 1957, and she survives. They just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Moler worked for over 35 years at Eagle Pitcher/Sherwin Williams/Eagle Zinc in Hillsboro and was a plant supervisor during the last few years until its closure in 2003. He enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing, hunting and yard saleing. A longtime member of the Hillsboro Moose Club #1377, he was a member of The Fellowship Degree of Honor, was a trustee, treasurer and junior governor. He was also a past member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge #51 A.F. and A.M.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children; Jerry (Tami) Moler, Michael (fiance Shelly) and Nancy Reeves all of Hillsboro and James (Linda) Moler of Sorento; nine grandchildren; Melinda (Luke) Armbuster, Dixie Smiddy, Melissa (Mark) Brown, Erica (Shanna) Clayton, Jackie (Caleb) Brown, Jamie Moler, Jonathan (companion Christina) Richmond, Kaylin (companion David) Richmond and Kelli Reeves; 11 great-grandchildren plus one on the way, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Bev Byington, Florence Wilfong and Ron Moler; son-in-law Dwight Reeves and daughter-in-law Laura Kay (Richmond) Moler.
