Lyle J. Lyerla, 79, of Worden, died at 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2020, in Alton.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Williamson Funeral Homes of Worden is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Lyerla was born on Sept. 19, 1940, in Raymond, to the late Warren and Nellie (Malloy) Lyerla. He married Violet Schneider on June 5, 1961, in Alton.

Mr. Lyerla was a veteran of the US Army. He was the owner and operator of  Wildewood Construction in Worden where he was a builder and developer. He was also a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Staunton.

Mr. Lyerla is survived by his wife; children, Lisa (Jeff) Wolbert of Jacksonville, FL, and Patrick (Carrie) Lyerla of Worden; six grandchildren, Nicole (Matt) Nowitzki, Eric Deininger, Jordan (Josh) Brown, J.T. Wolbert, Katy Deininger and Lauren Lyerla; four great-grandsons, Bradley, Barrett, Brody and Blake Nowitzki; a sister, Helen Maedge of Staunton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laura Deininger; sister, Ann Hooker; and brothers, Lee Martin and Warren Lyerla.

Memorials are suggested to either St. Michael’s Stained Glass Window Restoration Fund care of St. Michael’s Catholic Church , 428 E. North St., Staunton IL 62088, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
