A familiar name to local racing fans has returned to the track for the 2019 season.
Third generation racers Nathan Lynch and younger brother Brady Lynch (along with brother/mechanic Evan Lynch) have been racing in the pro-mod and modified division this season, after a break from racing by the family. Nathan came into this year's endeavor with some experience in the late model cars, but this is Brady's first go in the sport as the brothers follow in the footsteps of their grandfather (Art), father (Artie) and uncle (Corky).
The quarter-mile oval at Macon Speedway has been the most frequent destination for Lynch Motorsports, with ten races at the track since mid-April.
Averaging a heat finish of 5.5 in the ten races, Nathan picked up his first win of the season in the B Feature on Saturday, July 20. He would go on to finish tenth overall in the A Feature.
Nathan's best finish of the year in the A Feature came in his first trip to Macon this season on April 13, where he edged Brady to finish fifth. In the other seven A Features he's raced in, Nathan has finished eighth four times, tenth twice and 12th once.
Brady's sixth place finish at Macon was also his best A Feature result at the track and came after the first heat win of his career. In ten races, his average heat finish has been 4.7, including a second place finish in the heat race on July 13. Brady also finished third in the B Feature on May 4 and was ninth in the A Feature on April 20.
The experience hasn't been without its learning moments though. On June 8, Brady flipped the 14B, while Nathan's 14N suffered some major damage as well, which kept both cars out for three weeks.

The Lynchs aren't the only racers from Hillsboro at Macon this year, though. Brady's father-in-law, Kevin Rench, has also been piloting the number 116 at the quarter-mile oval.
In 11 races, Rench has an average heat race finish of 5.2, posting a third in the April 13 race and fourth in the April 20 and June 29 races. He has also finished second in the B Feature on June 8 and third in the most recent B Feature on July 20.
In the A Features, Rench's best finish was eighth in the April 13 race, with two ninth place finishes on May 18 and June 1.
