Lynis Cassidy, 81

Lynis Eugene Cassidy, 81, of Nokomis died Monday, April 8, 2013, at his home in Nokomis.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Nokomis. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 11, at the church with the Rev. Christian Promm officiating.

Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Nokomis with military graveside services.

Mr. Cassidy was born in Nokomis on Sept. 12, 1931, the son of the late Leo and Pauline (Gerhardt) Cassidy. He married Jeanette Lankford at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Nokomis on Nov. 18, 1951, and she survives.

He graduated from St. Paul's Grade School and Nokomis High School. He served in the United States Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean Conflict.

 Mr. Cassidy and his wife farmed and raised livestock northwest of Nokomis on his family farm. He served on many boards and committees at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Nokomis and was on the Blue Cross and Blue Shield boards for many years. He belonged to the Rountree Gun Club and was a member of the Nokomis American Legion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Karen (husband Ivan) Benning of Harvel; son, Craig (wife Julie) Cassidy of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren, Suzanne (husband Brian) Grundy, Andrew (wife Keri) Benning and Kyle Cassidy; great-grandsons, Noah and Lucas Grundy; and brother, James (wife Juanita) Cassidy of Keysport.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Nokomis.
