Maenell Kathryn Schoenherr, 65, of Springfield, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, at 8:41 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. CDC guidelines will be followed with the use of masks and social distancing.
Mrs. Schoenherr was born Oct. 8, 1955, in Springfield, to Richard B. and Geraldine (Pierce) Thompson. She married George M. Schoenherr on Oct. 8, 1991, and her preceded her in death on May 6, 1992.
She worked in office administration at SIU Family Practice and at Trinity Lutheran School for many years. A volunteer for church and school organizations over the years, she was an animal lover who always took in animals in need.
Mrs. Schoenherr is survived by a daughter, Teresa Schoenherr (fiance Jeremy Watson of Springfield; stepdaughter, Aimee (Robert) Parker of Franklin, TN; stepson, Michael (Beth) Schoenherr of Waggoner; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Memorials may be made to the Springfield Muni Opera.
