Man Faces Child Porn Indictment

A Litchfield man faces federal child sexual exploitation charges, according to the U.S. Attorney John Milhiser.

Cory C. Robinson, 24, of Litchfield, was arrested on Monday, July 15, following indictment by a federal grand jury on charges of production of child pornography and attempted enticement of a minor.  The indictment alleges that Robinson produced child pornography of a minor and attempted to entice a minor to engage in sexual conduct in August and September 2017.

During a hearing in federal court on Friday, July 19, U.S. Magistrate Judge Tom Schanzle-Haskins ruled that Robinson presents a danger to the community and must remain in law enforcement custody.  Prosecutors pointed out that Robinson has been an active volunteer in local church youth programs, youth trips and camping events, and in online conversations with minors using multiple social media.

The child pornography charge is punishable by 15-30 years in prison, and the attempted enticement charge is punishable by 10 years to life in prison.  The charges are the result of an ongoing investigation by the FBI and Illinois State Police.  The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Crystal C. Correa.
