Margaret (Lach) Barth, 83, of Mulberry Grove, died on Thursday evening, Oct. 8, 2020, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 8 to 10 a.m. at Mother of Dolors Catholic Church in Vandalia. Funeral Mass will follow, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Due to CDC guidelines, social distancing will be followed and masks will be required. Donnell Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville is assisting the family.

Mrs. Barth was born Oct. 25, 1936, in Pulikovec, Yugoslavia, to Steve and Johanna (Kubica) Lach. She married L. Edward Barth on Nov. 5, 1955. They enjoyed 62 years together before his passing on June 13, 2018.

She moved to the U.S. with her father at the age of two. He started farming in the Wilsonville area, where she attended the local schools. One of ten children, her family moved to Mulberry Grove, and she graduated from Mulberry Grove High School.

Mrs. Barth raised her family, worked at Robbins in Vandalia and was a cook for over 20 years at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia. Since retirement, she has enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Kathy (husband Ken) Barth Roberts, Edward Joseph (wife Nancy) Barth and David (wife Marci) Barth; grandchildren, Tiffany (Michael) DelaCruz, Lauren (Allen) Ash, Emily (Logan) Barth Mitchell, Jonathan Barth, Michael Barth and  Blake Barth; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Mya, Ainsley, Louis, Ruby and Elliot; and siblings, Anne (Dr. Anthony) Jadhon of New York, Dr. Ivan (Mary) Lach of Bloomington, Mary Bridges, Steve (Dorothy) Lach, Jr. and Frank (Melody) Lach, all of Vandalia, Teresa (Richard) Townsend and Rose (Steve) Edwards, both of Edwardsville, Joe (Janet) Lach of Mulberry Grove and Kathy (Joe) Paulfrey of Brighton.
