Margaret Charlene Jenkins, 83, died on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 11:43 p.m., at Tremont Ridge Assisted Living in Hillsboro.
Visitation will take place from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m., at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond on Monday, March 16, 2026. A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will follow, with Frs. Daniel Willenborg and Florent Kanga presiding. Burial will be at St. Raymond Cemetery in Raymond. Hough-Dean is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Jenkins was born March 11, 1943, in Raymond, a daughter to William Fred and Helen Louise (Swires) Bergman. She married Bernard L. Jenkins on Nov. 28, 1964, at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond, and he survives.
A 1961 graduate of Raymond High School and a graduate of the Springfield Beauty School, she owned and operated her own beauty salon, Margaret’s, for 63 years. She was a Longaberger Basket representative, a member of the Go Eat Club, was a particularly good cook and baker, loved to watch Cardinals baseball and enjoyed playing Pollyanna with family and friends. She always looked forward to the Raymond Independence Day Celebration each year; she held the honor of being crowned as its first queen in 1958. She served as a member of the St. Raymond’s Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her sons, Maurice “Moe” (Deborah) Jenkins and David (Debra) Jenkins, both of Raymond; daughter, Angie (David) Mizera of Hillsboro; brother, Melvin Bergman of Litchfield; sister, Dorothy (Frank) Carroll of Litchfield; six grandchildren, Aaron (Sara) Jenkins, Devin Jenkins, Maddie Mizera, Natasha Mizera, Will Jenkins and Ella Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Chloe and Ivy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert “Bob” Bergman.
