Margaret I. (Loew) Clanton, 84, of Hillsboro, formerly of Coffeen, died on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at 1:10 a.m. at Tremont Ridge Assisted Living in Hillsboro.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Daniel R. White officiating. Burial will be held in Donnellson Cemetery.

Mrs. Clanton was born Feb. 5, 1936, in Walshville, to William and Clara (Keeling) Loew. She married Bob L. Clanton on June 30, 1956, in Donnellson, and he preceded her in death on May 26, 2019.

During her career, she worked at DeMoulin’s Sewing Factory in Greenville, the Roller Derby in Litchfield and various garment factories in Hillsboro, Litchfield, Nokomis and Vandalia.

Mrs. Clanton loved to sew and when she moved to Tremont Ridge Assisted Living in Hillsboro in August 2019, she continued her passion to sew for staff and residents. She also enjoyed refurbishing antique trunks, working jigsaw puzzles and watching hummingbirds. 

She lived in Donnellson, Coffeen and Hillsboro throughout her life.

Mrs. Clanton is survived by her children, Brenda (husband Larry) Ackerman of Hillsboro and Rebecca (friend Ken Johnson) Clanton of Coffeen; and two sisters, Beulah Marsh and Norma Lawrence, both of Litchfield.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and four brothers.

Memorials may be directed to the Donnellson Cemetery.
