Margie M. (Van Ostran) White, 79, of Coffeen, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, at 9:57 a.m. at her residence.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Betzy Elifrits-Warren, pastor of Wesley Foundation at Eastern Illinois University of Charleston officiating. Burial will be held in Shiloh Cemetery in rural Coffeen. Due to COVID-19, CDC guidelines will be followed, and everyone is required to use masks and social distance.

Mrs. White was born Jan. 29, 1941, in Missouri, the daughter of the late George and Lois (Sudheimer) Van Ostran. She married Walt Schroedel, and they later divorced. She then married Gary White on April 22, 1995, at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, and he survives.

Several years ago, she retired as a cook from the Ariston Cafe in Litchfield. During her lifetime, she lived in Irving and Coffeen. She was a member of the Coffeen Red Hat Ladies of Coffeen.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Becky Bergin of Vandalia; stepchildren, Sheila (husband Ray) White of Coffeen and Ronnie (wife Vicki) White of Greenfield; two grandchildren, Kathrine Bergin of Vandalia and Sarah Bergin of Shelbyville; six stepgrandchildren, Adam White and April Dowland, both of Greenfield, Travis White of Austin, TX, and Matthew White of Peoria, Jeremy White of Hillsboro and Shane (wife Dana) White of Fillmore; ten stepgreat-grandchildren; and siblings, Marie Smith, Gladys Jett, Mary Dullenty, Mattie Brown and James Van Ostran.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
