Marianne Chapman, 75, of Taylorville, died at 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at her home in Taylorville.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, at Edinburg United Methodist Church in Edinburg, with Pastor Caleb McGregor and Pastor Ray Radae officiating. Burial will be in Kettelkamp Cemetery in rural Nokomis. Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Chapman was born on June 8, 1944, to Carl and Nellie (Snider) Reincke. She married Bill Chapman on June, 1, 1969, at South Fork United Methodist Church in rural Nokomis. Mrs. Chapman attended Millikin University in Decatur, where she received her bachelor's degree in music education. She was involved in a music sorority and worked at the Clinton Fine Arts Center. The Chapmans met in Hammond while they were both teaching.

The couple later moved to Edinburg, where Mrs. Chapman taught band, music and choir for 22 years. She directed the school's Christmas programs, school plays and swing choir dinner theatre. Mrs. Chapman was a member of the Edinburg United Methodist Church, where she assisted with church music, was choir director, played for funerals and weddings, led several cantatas with other churches and gave many music lessons. She was a former grand marshal for Edinburg Labor Day Parade.

Mrs. Chapman is survived by her husband; and her nephews, Aaron and Cody Chapman of Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
