Marilyn Kay (Rosenthal) Barto, 69, of Raymond, died on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at 4:50 a.m. at Parkview Tower in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, following a battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. Social distancing and masks will be required. Funeral Mass for family will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 28, beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond. Burial will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery in Raymond.

Mrs. Barto was born on March 26, 1951, in Litchfield, to Shirlen and Mary (Krager) Rosenthal. She married John Robert Barto on June 5, 1971, in Raymond, and he survives.

She graduated from Lincolnwood High School with the class of 1969. She attended Eastern Illinois University, and later was employed by the State of Illinois, Country Companies Insurance, and retired from Horace Mann Insurance in 2017.

Mrs. Barto was a member of St. Raymond’s Catholic Church, St. Raymond’s Council of Catholic Women and Home Extension/Connections for over 45 years. She was a past officer of the Raymond-Harvel Sports Association and Lincolnwood Athletic Boosters.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Brian (Shonda) Barto of Philo, Kevin (Katie) Barto of Lemont and Jason (Alyssa) Barto of Spring Hill, TN; four granddaughters, Annabelle Barto of Spring Hill, TN, and Koralyn, Konnelly and Keslia Barto of Lemont; six stepgrandchildren, Skye Mahaffey, Canyon (Mylissa) Mahaffey, Montana Mahaffey, Harley (Brody) Smith, Lexy Mahaffey and Alexis (Justin) Brown; six stepgreat-grandchildren, Kruz and Harleigh West, Lylah and Olyvia Mahaffey, Stella Smith and Stockton Brown; brother, Dennis (Julia) Rosenthal of Raymond; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Barto was preceded in death by her mother; and brothers, Thomas Lee and Larry Joseph Rosenthal.

Memorials may be directed to St. Raymond’s Cemetery in Raymond or Siteman Cancer Institute.
