Marjorie (Marj) Louise Ritchie, 93, of Tallahassee, FL, formerly of Litchfield, died on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, with family at her bedside.
A private graveside service will be held at Culley’s Meadow Wood Funeral Home in Tallahassee, FL . A celebration of her life will be held at a later date for family and friends.
Mrs. Ritchie was born on June 21, 1926, in Carlinville, to Alvin and Della Boedecker, the youngest of five, with four brothers. She married William (Bill) Lawrence Ritchie on May 3, 1946, in Litchfield.
Mrs. Ritchie worked several jobs, her favorite was as a bookkeeper for Turtle Creek Convalescent Center in Litchfield. She was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church. After retiring in 1984, the Ritchies moved to Tallahassee, to have fun with their grandchildren.
In her spare time, Mrs. Ritchie enjoyed sewing, bowling and reading. She also loved watching her grandchildren play sports, especially baseball. Her family remembers her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Ritchie is survived by three children, Glen Ritchie of Tallahassee, FL, Ray Ritchie (Linda) of Manteo, NC, and Martin Ritchie (Diane) of Monticello, FL; three grandchildren, Jason (Kim) Ritchie, Sarah (Dan) Tomblin, all of Tallahassee, FL and Andre’ (Vyoma) Ritchie of Albuquerque, NM; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Parker, Preston Ritchie, Brianna and Nathan Tomblin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; grandson, Ryan Ritchie; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilferd and Alma, Vernon and Roberta, Maynard and Ruth, and Ernest and Reba Boedecker.
