Marjorie Marie (Fraser) Parnell, 95, died July 13, 2023, at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, at Plummer Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. with burial at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Honey Bend. Rev. Gary J. Schwab of the First Presbyterian Church of Litchfield will officiate. Plummer Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Parnell was born in Litchfield on Nov. 19, 1927, a daughter of  Ernest and Lillie (Steward) Fraser. She married Donald Parnell on August 11, 1946 at the First Baptist Church in Litchfield, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 2000.

Mrs. Parnell graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1945, and upon graduation, was employed in the office of the Brown Shoe Company. Later on, she did child care in her home while her children were growing up. She then was employed part time at Worley Wear clothing store and later at Millburg Furniture Store as a sales clerk. After her retirement, she and her husband delivered Meals On Wheels.

She was a member of  First Baptist Church in Litchfield. In her earlier years, she taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible school and was a member of the JOY Sunday school class. She enjoyed taking walks, word search puzzles, movies, and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Parnell is survived by her children, son, Allen Parnell, of Warrensburg and two daughters, Sandra Keith of Litchfield and Donna (Tim) Price of Staunton; sister, Mary Ann Knabel of Decatur; grandchildren, Carrie (Kevin) Ray of Mt. Zion, Christopher (Stacey) Keith of Alton, Matthew (Lisa) Parnell of Decatur, Jillian (Tyler) Obrien of Hamel,  Evan Price of Chicago; great grandchildren, Brentleigh Keith and Brody Keith of Alton, Colton Ray of Mt. Zion, Rowan Obrien of Hamel; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son in law, James Keith, daughter in law, Patricia Parnell; sisters, Bernice Baker and Marilyn McLauchlan; brother, Robert Fraser; and great grandson, Austin Ray.
