Mark A. Rhodes, 61, of Gillespie, died at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 2:09 a.m.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 3, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Kravanya Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
Mr. Rhodes was born Jan. 21, 1963, in Staunton, to his father, Robert J. Rhodes, birth mother, Adell Medley Rhodes and mother, Mary M. Ogilvie Rhodes. He married Marilyn S. Mallory Rhodes on April 22, 2000 in Gillespie, and she survives.
He was a laborer for Aladdin Steel as well was a member of the Litchfield Moose and Gillespie Fire Department and was an avid Cub fan.
Mr. Rhodes loved his grandkids and being outdoors with tractors.
Mr. Rhodes is survived by his spouse, Marilyn Rhodes of Gillespie; children, Zachary (Taylor) Rhodes of Staunton, Deanna (Jeremy) Ellis of Gillespie and Michael (Allison) Rhodes of Palmyra; grandchildren, Maris Rhodes, Ayden Madeline, Traegen Madeline, Lincoln Ellis, Caleb Ellis, Chloe Ellis, Corbin Bates, Blaze Rhodes, Hali Rhodes and Braylon Rhodes; siblings, Janice (John) Snopko of Mt. Olive, Rhonda Chapman of New Port Richey, FL and Kim (Melvin) Thornhill of Gillespie; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Joyce Mallory of Gillespie.
Mr. Rhodes was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Abigail Rhodes; and brother, Ron Smith.
