Mark E. Pearse, 51, of Taylorville, died on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at 4:09 a.m. in rural Taylorville, as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date at Fraley Cemetery in Taylorville with Pastor Steve Switzer officiating.
Mr. Pearse was born on Nov. 14, 1969, in Hillsboro, to Larry Pearse and Gloria Barclay. He married Terressa Fox on Sept. 25, 1997, in Stonington, and she survives.
He recently retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections after working there for over 30 years. He also served in the Army National Guard for six years.
Mr. Pearse loved to play cards, coach his children’s sports teams, play golf and hunt. His greatest passion in life was spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Brittney (Tod Gunther) Womack, Amber Pearse, Malique Pearse, Nevaeh Pearse and Zariah Pearse, all of Taylorville; grandchildren, Lyndon and Emry Gunther; father, Larry (Debbie) Pearse of Nokomis; sister, Dawn (Tobi Simonton) Manuel; brothers, David (Cyndee) Pearse, Stephen (Mindy) Pearse, Tim (Jamie) Pearse, Josh (Kira) Barclay and Jerry Manuel; mother-in-law, Monica Fox; sister-in-law, Trina Szabo; brother-in-law, Kelvin (Denise) Fox; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Pearse was preceded in death by his mother; sister, Debra Ann Hussain; and father-in-law, William Fox.
