Martha Harrelson, 84, of Hillsboro, formerly of Lacey, WA, died Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at 5:03 a.m. at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Hillsboro.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 22, at 11 a.m. at Green Hill Cemetery in Van Burensburg with the Rev. Myron Kirk, pastor of Grace Fellowship Church in Fillmore, officiating. Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Harrelson was born Sept. 22, 1934, in Munich, Germany, the daughter of the late Fanz and Anna (Riepp) Hiergiest. She married Samuel "Tom" Harrelson on Nov. 6, 1958, in Germany, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2018.
In addition to living in Hillsboro, during her lifetime, she also lived in Munich, Germany, Ft. Bragg, NC, Clarksville, TN, and Lacey, WA. She was an army wife and a stay-at-home mom.
She loved gardening and being outside. She was very proud of her German heritage.
Mrs. Harrelson is survived by her son, Bill (wife Celene) Harrelson of Coffeen; granddaughter, Sara Duff; great-grandson, Caleb Duff; sister, Helga Hiergiest of Munich, Germany; and one niece, Maria Schulz of Munich, Germany.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
