Martin A. 'Bubba' Kutz, Sr., 87

Martin Anton "Bubba" Kutz, Sr., 87, of Litchfield, died at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018 at  Tremont Ridge Assisted Living in Hillsboro.  

Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield with the Rev. Dr. Harold "Diz" Reents of Living Stones in Litchfield officiating.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.  

Mr. Kutz was born on Nov. 11, 1930, in Shreveport, LA, the son of Martin Phillip and Laura Lee (Lestage) Kutz.  He married Betty Jo Cowan on Jan. 8, 1954, in Monroe, LA, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 2004.

Mr. Kutz was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He served during the Korean War and was a double Purple Heart recipient.  

He worked for South Central Bell as a lineman and phone technician for several years.  He was a member of Living Stones in Litchfield where he had been very active in church functions.  He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.  He also enjoyed fishing and woodworking, and was always willing to lend a hand and often volunteered to drive veterans to their appointments.  During his earlier years, he was a Boy Scout leader.  

He is survived by a son, Martin A. (Donna Spence) Kutz., Jr. of Monroe, LA; a daughter, Lisa (Marshall) Wright of Gallatin, TN; a sister, LaTrelle (Dr. Al) Nicosia of Denton, TX; five grandchildren, Joseph Kutz (Ashley Walker), Joshua Kutz, Whitney (Erik) Thornton, Laura Wright and Justin Wright; and a great-grandson, Asher Kutz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
