Mary A. (Burke) Chesser, 68, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro. A private burial will be held at a later date. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Chesser was born Nov. 1, 1950, in Taylorville, to Everett and Dorothy L. (Wilkins) Burke.

She was a graduate of Taylorville High School, and was also a graduate of Capital Area School of Nursing in Springfield.

A nurse at St. Francis Hospital for many years, she worked as head nurse for Dr. Dan Wujek at Litchfield Family Practice.

She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro. She enjoyed and loved her family and her church.

She is survived by one daughter, Jami (husband Michael) Sarsany of Hillsboro; three granddaughters, Jordan, London and Peyton Sarsany of Hillsboro; one great-grandson, Paxton Sarsany of Hillsboro; one brother, Donald Aull of Litchfield; two nieces, Hope and Heather Aull; and two nephews, Ron and Steve Burke.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Burke.

Memorials may be made to the Paxton Sarsany Fund.
