Mary Ann Steward, 81, of Wilsonville, died Sunday, May 5, 2019, at her residence.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 9, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Burial was held in Gillespie Cemetery.
Mrs. Steward was born Oct. 1, 1937, in Brighton, to John Hohnsbehn and Jeannetta F. (Bennett) Hohnsbehn. She was raised by her stepparents, Eugene and Mary Pankey. She married James A. Steward, Sr. on Sept. 17, 1954, in Indiana, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 2000.
A homemaker, she was a member of The Salvation Army and The Salvation Army Church.
She is survived by her children, Pamlia Steward of Gillespie, James A. (Leslie) Steward, Jr. of Alton, Margaret A. (Wesley) Zumwalt of Wilsonville, Shirley Steward of Litchfield and Charles E. (companion Tammy) Steward of Medora;12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, stepparents, and husband, she was preceded in death by son, George Steward; granddaughter, June Ann Leetham; great-granddaughter, Lexee Farmer; four brothers; and two sisters.
Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army or Celtic Hospice.
