Mary Anna (Luck) McElroy, 88, of Springfield, formerly of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 1:05 p.m., at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Cremation rites were accorded. There are no services planned at this time. Internment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McElroy was born Jan. 7, 1933 in Hillsboro, the daughter of Roscoe H. and Sophia (Long) Luck, Sr. She married Larry McElroy in April of 1956. They later divorced.

She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and worked for the Farm Bureau, the Department of Forestry, the Federal Mine Inspector’s office, and lastly, worked as director of administration at United Way in Springfield.

Mrs. McElroy is survived by her son, Kevin McElroy of Springfield; nieces Tami Joyce  and Patty Parry Zegers; nephews Rick Luck, Rowdy Luck, Greg Westbrook, Rich Westrook and Jimmy Parry; brother Roscoe “Buck” Luck, Jr. of Shobonier; and sister Dorothy Westbrook of Chatham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; children Kelly G. McElroy and Keith L. McElroy; and sister Ethel Parry.
