Mary Lee Reineke, 87, of Taylorville, formerly of Raymond, died on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Life’s Journey Senior Living in Taylorville.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 17, from 10 to 11 a.m. at A Community of Faith Church, 101 Belle Street, in Raymond. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with Tom Mulch officiating. Burial will be held at Asbury Cemetery in Raymond. Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is assisting the family.

Mrs. Reineke was born Dec. 10, 1933, in Farina, to Elmer and Charlotte (Wilson) Holmes.

She attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, where she received her bachelor's degree in education and also met the love of her life, Bill Reineke. They married on Dec. 23, 1956, in Farina, and he preceded her in death.

She went on to student teach, and after taking time off to start a family, she accepted a teaching position at Lincolnwood High School in Raymond, where she taught business classes for 26 years. During that time, she earned her master's degree in education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.

She retired from teaching in the Panhandle School District in 1992, and for the next few years, she worked at Alice Campbell Temporary Employment Agency.

When she wasn't working, Mrs. Reineke was spending time attending her grandchildren's many activities. During the winter months, she and her husband were snowbirds, spending their time in Florida.

She belonged to the Methodist faith and was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed golfing and Cardinal baseball.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda (Chuck) Bullard of Morrisonville, Cynthia (Dan) Beeler of Taylorville and Nancy (Joe) Asma of Waukegan; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Beverly Brown of Casey.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Reineke was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, John Holmes.
