Mary Marie Joiner, 88, of Greenville, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2021, at HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 6, at 2:30 p.m. in Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento. Young Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Joiner was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Fisk, MO, to Tom D. and Annie R. (Pope) Morgan. She married Winfred Abednego “Speck” Joiner in Clay County, AR, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 1990.

Growing up in Fisk, MO, she attended school until the eighth grade. She and her husband raised their children in East St. Louis, until moving to Sorento, where they opened the Joiner Refrigeration business. She worked in the business doing many jobs until her husband’s death, then she moved to Greenville. She enjoyed Bingo, music and dancing.

She is survived by her daughter, Diana (Don) Rine of Vandalia; three sisters, Louise Joiner of Elgin, Betty Farmer of Festus, MO, and Kathy Farmer of Wichita, KS; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sons, Thomas, Kenneth, Ronald and Dave Joiner.

Memorials may be made to the Bond County Food Pantry or HSHS Holy Family Gift Shop.
