Matthew Charles Shelhamer, 43, of Litchfield, died on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 8:15 a.m. at his residence.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 1, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Randy Sands, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family.
Mr. Shelhamer was born Sept. 20, 1979, in Hillsboro, to Charles “Chuck” and Helen (Zimmer) Shelhamer.
He graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1998, and studied architecture at Ranken Technical College in St. Louis, MO.
Mr. Shelhamer worked quality control in the boat part distribution center at Dometic in Litchfield. During his lifetime, he resided in Hillsboro, St. Louis, MO, and Litchfield.
He attended Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro. He loved baseball and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Mr. Shelhamer is survived by his parents of Hillsboro; sister, Jennifer (husband Jeff) Kokal of Shorewood; nephews, Kirk Fortelka and Caleb Kokal; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Stella Zimmer; and paternal grandparents, Ernest and Lucetta Shelhamer.
