Matthew Michael Schwab, 42, of Mt. Olive, died on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Becker and Son Funeral Home in Mt. Olive. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 20, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Father Tom Hagstrom officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Olive.

Mr. Schwab was born July 23, 1976, in Litchfield, to David Arthur Schwab and Teresa Kay (Rosenthal) Swenson. He married Brandie Lynn Neubert on March 24, 2003, at the Macoupin County Courthouse, and she survives.

He attended Mt. Olive Grade School and graduated from Mt. Olive High School with the class of 1994.

Mr. Schwab served as food supervisor for Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro and owned Tilley's Bar and Restaurant in Mt. Olive and Ramsey. 

He was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Parish Church in Mt. Olive, formerly Church of The Ascension, and the Knights of Columbus. He loved his family and managing his restaurants. 

In addition to his wife, Mr. Schwab is survived by his two sons, Maxwell and Chance Schwab; stepson, Jacob Jones; brother, David Schwab; half-brother, Ethan Swenson; two sisters, Laura Medford and Stephanie Parnell; grandmother, Judy Rosenthal; paternal grandparents, Frank and Irma Schwab; stepgranddaughters, Kallei Jones and Lorelai Foley; and stepgrandson, Landon Foley.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Rosenthal; and brother-in-law, Bob Welch.

Memorials may be directed to the educational fund for his sons.
