Maud E. Belden, 77, of Litchfield, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, at 11:20 p.m. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield surrounded by her loved ones.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Litchfield. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Jason Plumer officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Litchfield Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Belden was born Aug. 18, 1942, in Du Quoin, a daughter of the late Robert and Norma (Neal) Furlow. She married John Belden on June 4, 1988, at the First Baptist Church in Litchfield, and he preceded her in death on April 5, 2013.

She was a graduate of Lincolnwood High School in Raymond. Over the years, she was employed at Hillsboro Hospital in the laundry department, and as a housekeeper at Care Inn in Litchfield. She is most well-known for her employment at Coffman's Drug Store in Litchfield.

An active member of the First Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School and facilitated several Bible study groups, including the Christian weight loss program, First Place. She was known and described as a selfless person, which reflected in the many volunteer hours spent at St. Francis Hospital Gift Shop, Hearts United and the Red Cross Blood Bank.

She was a woman of strong faith who loved Jesus and bluegrass music.

She is survived by daughters, Kimberly Bechtel of Raymond and Laura (Mike) Moroney of Taylor Springs; grandchildren, Kaylie (Justin) Ripley, Kelsie (Tim) Roberts, Hannah Bechtel and Kendra (Nathan) Kirby; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Avery, Jayce, Cadence, Parker Jo and Quinn; and sisters, Naomi (Bob) Schmidt, Mary Held and Roberta (Denny) Roberts.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
