Maurice C. Hickman, 90, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of Decatur, died on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 6:05 a.m. in Quincy.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Elkhart Cemetery. Graveside services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the cemetery with the Rev. Jonathan Buescher officiating. Hanson-Spear Funeral Home in Quincy is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hickman was born April 10, 1929, in Litchfield, to the late Maurice C. and Thelma (Kemp) Hickman.

He graduated from Litchfield High School and enlisted in the Illinois National Guard in 1948. During the Korean War, his division was called to active service in February 1952, and he was discharged in September 1953 as a sergeant.

Mr. Hickman was employed as a machinist at Borg Warner in Decatur, for 26 years, from 1955 to 1981, when they closed. He was later employed at Revere, from 1989 to 1996, making stainless steel pots and pans.

He is survived by a daughter, Karen (David) Gibbs of Mt. Pulaski; and a grandson, Brandon Creager of Pensacola, FL.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hickman was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy Creager; grandson, Chad Creager; brother, Bruce Allen Hickman; and a sister, Carol June Robinson.
