Maxine LaVerne Willett, 88, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Willett was born Feb. 1, 1931, in Missouri, to Claude and Sarah Etta (Dake) Krone. She married Ray Hoy, and he preceded her in death in 1984. She then married David Willett and he survives in Hillsboro.

She was a graduate of Iberia, MO. High School, and she received her certificate in massage therapy.

As a massage therapist, she worked from home. She was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses in Greenville. She enjoyed the outdoors, including gardening, hiking and horseback riding. She was an avid reader and enjoyed helping people learn Bible truths.

In addition to her husband, David, she is survived by two daughters, Gail (Larry) Johnson of Fillmore and Karen (Jim) Carroll of Kenyon, MN; one grandson; and two granddaughters.

In addition to her parents and her first husband, Ray, she was preceded in death by one grandson, one brother and three sisters.

Memorials may be made to American Alzheimer's Association.
