Maxine Maroon, 86, of Greenville, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Young Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial was held in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.

Mrs. Maroon was born Feb. 12, 1933, in Pittsburg, to Leonard and Fern (Whitford) Koontz. She married Harry Maroon on Oct. 4, 1952, in Greenville, and he survives.

She grew up in the Pittsburg area and moved to Greenville after she and her husband were married. She worked at the Bel Air Motel, did some babysitting, but she spent most of her life as a homemaker.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Vicki (Terry) Boatright of Carlyle and Rosetta (Larry) Blankenship of Greenville; two sons, Roger "Whitey" Maroon of Hoffman and Randy "Ham" (Angela) Maroon of Donnellson; brother, Dean (Mary) Koontz; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Leslie Maroon and David Maroon; two sisters, Marilyn Peterson and Lucille Gum; and brother, George Koontz.
