The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) announced the establishment of the Montgomery County Improvement Fund at the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln to support an unrestricted endowment fund for Montgomery County.
The fund was established by an initial gift of $7,250 from the MCEDC.
"The goal of the fund is to support activities which strengthen the social, educational, and economic foundations of our county," according to MCEDC board Chairman Dr. Robert Mulch.
MCEDC was formed in 2004 to support county wide community and economic development, maintain current data and trends, and support tourism efforts. As time passed, it became apparent to MCEDC board members that the corporation needed to spur the development of a long-term endowment fund that would support long term improvements throughout the county. The fund has been set up so that anyone can donate and make a contribution that will perpetually impact our community.
As the fund grows, a committee of Montgomery County citizens will be established to review financial assistance requests. All gifts are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
"We see the establishment of the Montgomery County Improvement Fund as a great opportunity to support Montgomery County now and for generations to come," John Stremsterfer, president and CEO of the Community Foundation, said. "The Community Foundation is excited to partner with Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation on this endeavor."
The Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln is charitable resource that serves the counties of Montgomery, Sangamon, Cass, Christian, Logan, Macoupin, Menard, and Morgan by connecting people who care with causes that matter.
