Melba R. Decker, 88, of Carlinville, died on Friday afternoon, Aug. 7, 2020, at her residence.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 12, beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Brayford Cemetery in rural Carlinville with the Rev. Gary Farthing officiating. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard is assisting the family.

Mrs. Decker was born Nov. 22, 1931, in Litchfield, to William and Elvira (Caudle) Pratt, Sr. She married Rollin R. “Deck” Decker on Jan. 8, 1980, in Ft. Worth, TX, and he preceded her in death on March 11, 1997.

She served as a home mother at Peaceful Valley Youth Ranch in Carlinville for many years. Later, she was the assistant manager at WARECO Service Station in Carlinville.

Mrs. Decker enjoyed gardening, going to second-hand stores and antiquing. She loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Richard M. (Jannette) Stutsman of Kansas and James A. (Debbie) Stutsman of Rogers, AR; two daughters, Linda Joy (Jacob) Copple of Standard City and R. Kay (Michael) Moore of Plainview; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Decker was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William H. Pratt, Jr.; and sister, Helen L. Kellenberger.
