Melvin Guy Parsons, 89, of Litchfield, died on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 11:25 a.m. at Heritage Health: Therapy and Senior Care in Litchfield.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 30, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Lee Johns, of St. Agnes Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mr. Parsons was born May 4, 1930, in Litchfield, to Arthur Harold and Ethel Blanche (Wright) Parsons. He married Florence Annabel Harkey, and she preceded him in death on June 12, 1970. He then married Dorothy Mae (Curto) Grindley on Sept. 25, 1978, in Las Vegas, NV, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2017.

He attended Litchfield schools and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

During his career, Mr. Parsons worked as an automobile mechanic. He was self-employed for several years under P and H Mobil with business partner Jocko Hartke and his brother Dean Parsons until his passing, then Parson's Auto Service on the corners of old historic Rt. 66, West Tyler Avenue and four-lane 66. He later worked for the automotive department at Walmart for several years until his retirement.

He was a member of the VFW Post #3912 and a lifetime member of Litchfield Moose Lodge #1634.

Mr. Parsons is survived by four sons, Danny (Janice) Leonard, Sam (Donna) Leonard, Johny (Melissa) Leonard and Ricky Grindley, all of Litchfield; two daughters, Kitty (Charles) Leonard-Sneed of Spring, TX, and Marla (Joe) Mitchell of Broken Arrow, OK; ten grandchildren, Jackie Mae (Brian) Cowley, Danny Leonard, Jr., Sherry (Dan) Weeding, Adrienne (Aaron) Forst, Tyler (Morgan) Mitchell, Carrie Cooper, Brandon Leonard, Bruce Leonard, Heather (Rick) Copple and Ryan Grindley; 21 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Gordon Parsons; a brother, Harold Dean Parsons; and a sister, Dorothy Helle.
