Melvin Kester Lowe, 82, of Litchfield, died on Friday, July 3, 2020, at 8:28 a.m. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow, beginnning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Skylar Elmer, pastor of Christian Church of Litchfield, officiating. Burial will be held in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mr. Lowe was born Dec. 31, 1937, in Litchfield, to Fred Alred and Euphemia “Famie” Elizabeth (Dagon) Lowe. He married Charlotte Ann Laurie on Oct. 5, 1958, and they were married for 44 years, but later divorced.

He graduated from Litchfield Community High School with the class of 1956.

During his career, Mr. Lowe was a self-employed carpenter for several years and built new homes in the Roberson subdivision in Litchfield in its early development. He remodeled several homes in and around Litchfield with room additions and makeovers. In his earlier work years, he was employed at International Paper Company, McDonnell Douglas Aircraft and Litchfield Coca Cola bottling plant as a deliveryman. He was currently employed as an attendant at the local Bay Wash Car Wash facilities.

Mr. Lowe was a member of Christian Church of Litchfield, Mt. Moriah Lodge #51 A.F. & A.M. in Hillsboro. Over the years, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Honda Goldwing Riders Association. He also enjoyed going to rodeos, watching Western movies and living in Arizona for several years.

He is survived by his two daughters, Laurie (Clif) Ingram of Litchfield and Leslie (Curt) Frawley of Smithton; sister, Dorothy Hamman of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren, Caleb (Shaika) Ingram, Bethany (Daniel) Wu, Joel (Caroline) Ingram, Grace Ingram and Sarah Ingram; and three great-grandchildren, Connor and Caisyn Ingram and Oliver Wu.

Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Fred Lowe, Jr., Lester Lowe and Marvin Lowe; three sisters, Florence Massey, Linda Whisler and infant Donna Mae; and infant great-grandson, Cade Ingram.
