Mervin R. Dammerman, 74, of Nokomis, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020, at 6:15 p.m. at Nokomis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Nokomis.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 1, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Nokomis Cemetery.

Mr. Dammerman was born April 15, 1945, in Nokomis, to Raymond and Mary Ellen (Homann) Dammerman. He married Linda L. Vedder on June 30, 1968, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nokomis, and she survives.

A 1963 graduate of Nokomis High School, he continued his education at SIU Carbondale with a bachelor of science degree. After many years he retired from Freeman-Crown Coal Mine in Virden.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Daniel D. (Jennifer) Dammerman of Raleigh, NC, and Charley D. (Jennifer) Dammerman of Owaneco; grandchildren, Augustus Dammerman, and Ramsey, Fisher and Boyd Dammerman; brother, Kim (Janna) Dammerman of Gillespie; and sisters, Bonnie (Bill) Landsea of Miami, FL, and Loleta Morgan of Pekin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Danial Miller; and brother, Gary Dammerman.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Nokomis.
