Michael S. Carver, 76, died on Oct. 9, 2026, at Carlinville Hospital in Carlinville.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Assalley Funeral Home in Panama. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Panama.
Mr. Carver was born on June 20, 1950, in East St. Louis, to Romaden and Beulah (nee Lundy) Carver, one of seven children. He moved to Litchfield at a young age, where he resided until moving to Lakeside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carlinville.
Always on the go, he was a busybody who loved making people laugh. He could routinely be found with a soda and a Slim Jim in his pocket and he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. During his time in Litchfield, he enjoyed visiting the Moose Lodge to share a meal and catch up with friends. Much like the show “Cheers,” everybody knew his name. He loved to talk and visit with everyone he met.
Mr. Carver also enjoyed attending the Pickers Market on the second Sunday of every month, where he was notorious for trying to strike a bargain. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and often said the best catches were on the Grafton River. Above all, family was his greatest joy, and he cherished the time spent with his loved ones and close friends.
Mr. Carver is survived by his sister, Lisa (Tim) Baugh of Staunton; his niece, Heather Carver of Staunton; nephew, William Hayes of Staunton; and his great-niece, McKenzee Hayes of Worden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Romaden and Beulah Carver; his sisters, Janice and Rosie; and his brothers, Bob, Rick and Billy.
Memorial contributions may be mailed to the family at 118 E. College Ave., Greenville, IL 62246.
