Mildred Virginia Hicks, 92, of Decatur, died on Jan. 1, 2020, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service were held on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery.
Mrs. Hicks was born on May 5, 1927, in Ramsey, to John Alfred and Sarah Frances (Dilbeck) Eller. She married Clyde E. Hicks on Nov. 10, 1944, in Fayette County, he preceded her in death Aug. 3, 2007. Mrs. Hicks was a computer programmer and operated her own business, Millie Hicks Real Estate.
She loved education and attending college classes. Mrs. Hicks earned degrees from Illinois State University, Sangamon State University and Richland Community College. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling and golfing, and was a member of the women’s area Senior League. She loved to travel, and visited many splendid areas.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by her daughter, Rose Anna (Larry) Crawley of Dalton City; brother, Clifford (Georgie) Eller of Nokomis; sisters, Edith Petska of Pana and Evelyn Stevenson of Nokomis; grandchildren, Diana (Ron) Cloyd, Vickie (Danny) Epperson, Darlene Miller, Laura (Eric) Kline, Lisa (Terry) Simpson; 12 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons, Larry D. Hicks and Steven Hicks; brothers, Carl, Roy, Arthur and Merle Eller; and sister, Madge Ray.
