Mr. Halsey was born Jan. 14, 1964, in Mt. Sterling, KY, the son of Billy Hershel and Mary Alice (Eldridge) Halsey. He married Carmen Bryant, daughter of William Harold and Rose Bryant, on June 30, 1984, in Frenchburg, KY, and she survives.

The current pastor of Raymond Baptist Church, he served as a member of the crisis support team for the Raymond-Harvel Fire Department. He loved the Dominican people, and demonstrated that love by his deep ongoing involvement with missions' partnerships in the Dominican Republic.

Prior to surrendering to God's call to preach, he worked 25-plus years as a respiratory therapist. For those who knew him, they knew he loved Jesus. At the age of 32, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and he never looked back.

His passion was sharing Jesus with a person searching for hope. His common quote was, "Let me tell you the best thing that has ever happened to me. It was the day I met my Lord Jesus Christ."  He always told his family, "it's not about the multitudes, look for the one, it's all about the one."

In addition to his wife of 34-plus years, he is survived by sons, William Joseph (Sarah) Halsey of Cantrall, Jonathon (Ashley) Halsey of Auburn; mother, Mary of Mt. Sterling, KY; brother, Scotty (Kim) Halsey of Jeffersonville, KY; mother-in-law, Rose Bryant of Raymond;brothers-in-law, Raymond Bruce (Linda) Bryant of Paris, KY, and Martin Damon (Katie) Bryant of Mint Hill, NC; grandchildren, Grant, Jack, Garren, Cole, Kyle, Griffin, Bret, Grady, Haddie, Karli, Beau, Lillian and another grandson on the way; three nieces; and five nephews.

In addition to his father,  he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, William Harold Bryant.

Memorials may be made to Raymond Baptist Church, Dominican Republic Missions (c/o Raymond Baptist Church) or Celebrate Recovery in Mt. Sterling, KY.
