Morrisonville Kicks Off Annual Festivities July 18

Morrisonville Homecoming and Picnic will hold plenty of entertainment for the whole family. This year's celebration will be held Thursday, July 18, Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20.

The fun-filled event will start at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, when the petting zoo and kids rides open. Rides will close for the night at 10 p.m. Registration for the washers tournament will be held from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. 

The homecoming's traditional flag raising ceremony, along with the opening prayer and sing-along, will take place at 6 p.m. Scoville Zoo will present a special program at 6:15 p.m. Community Club Bingo will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will run until 10:30 p.m.

Thursday night's lineup will also feature the much anticipated Little Miss and Mister pageant at 7:45 p.m. and the Junior Miss pageant at 9 p.m. 

A bike giveaway will take place at 9:15 p.m. The opening night festivities will end with live entertainment at the beer tent from 9:15 p.m. to 12 a.m.

Morrisonville's festivities will resume on Friday, July 19,  at noon when the petting zoo reopens and the tractor show begins. 

For information on the tractor show contact Brian and Joe Grundy. Registration for the frog jump begins at noon with the frog jump set to start at 2 p.m. 

Children will enjoy a chance to meet their favorite fictional characters at the Spider-Man Experience, which will be held on the stage at 4 p.m. Carnival rides will resume at 5 p.m. with a special "kids ride for one price" deal. 

Roaming magician, Josh McVicar the Trickster, will be wandering the park performing feats of magic between 7 and 9 p.m. The kiddie tractor pull will begin at 6 p.m. and Community Club Bingo will resume from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Local couples will take the stage to compete in the Newlywed Game at 7 p.m. 

The Community Club will hold a gun raffle at 8 p.m. and 4-H group talks will begin at 8:30 p.m. Attendees will not want to miss the Miss Community Queen pageant at 9 p.m. Another bike giveaway will take place at 9:15 p.m. and the evening will end with live entertainment at the beer tent from 9:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.

The last day of Morrisonville's Homecoming and Picnic will start at 10 a.m. with the opening of the petting zoo. 

The parade line-up will begin promptly at 10 a.m. with the parade to start at 11 a.m. This year's parade theme is "Favorite Vacation" and the 2019 Parade Marshal is Robert "Hatch" Stewart. 

Registration for the bags tournament will start at noon and parade winners will be announced at 12:15 p.m. 

The Community Club will hold a second gun raffle at 12:15 p.m. Vehicle enthusiasts may be interested in attending the car show which will start at 1 p.m. The bags tournament will also begin at 1 p.m. and is sure to provide entertainment for competitors and spectators alike. 

Carnival rides will resume from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a special "kids ride for one price" deal. Community Club Bingo will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Animal lovers may be interested in attending the pet show, which will begin at 3 p.m. 

A bike giveaway will be held at 4:15 p.m. Youth will have the chance to test their skills at the Jr. Scavenger Hunt, which  will begin at 4:30 p.m. 

The baby parade line-up is set for 5 p.m. with the parade to start at 5:15 p.m. Community Club Bingo will resume from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Car show trophies will be presented at 7 p.m. Attendees may enjoy an entertaining game of Deal or No Deal, which will be held on the stage at 7 p.m. 

The Community Club will hold a final gun raffle at 8 p.m. Merchant prizes will be distributed at 8 p.m. and a final bike giveaway is set for 9:15 p.m. The weekend's festivities will conclude with live entertainment at the beer tent from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.
