Museum Hosted More Than 8,000 Visitors This Year

As we look back on this past year, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the many citizens of Litchfield and the surrounding area for their support.

We so appreciate the donations that are made to the museum on an almost daily basis, the monetary contributions, the visits, and the kind words.  The Litchfield Museum and Route 66 Welcome Center thrives because of you.

Our museum is run totally by volunteers.  Without these knowledgeable, dedicated and friendly folks we would not be able to make the museum the tourist attraction it is today.

It is still difficult for us to grasp that we hosted more than 8,000 visitors last year from 36 foreign countries and 43 states during the past year.  Having the opportunity to meet, interact with, and give suggestions and directions to these eager visitors is so much fun.  If you would like to get involved, you are invited to call me at 217-248-5416 to learn about joining us.  It is not a cumbersome commitment.  Some volunteers work once a month, and some once a week.  The shifts are three hours long.

We are currently operating under our winter schedule, which means that we are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 4.  We will be closed on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.  While your family is visiting, we urge you to drop by and check us out!

On behalf of the whole museum family, we wish you the best of all possible New Years. May you truly find the blessings of the season of peace on earth and good will toward men in your everyday life.
