Nancy Helen (Holliday) Titsworth, 77, of Litchfield, died on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, at 5:12 a.m. at Copper Creek Cottages Memory Care in Litchfield.
Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 4, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. A private family memorial service will be conducted Monday, Jan. 4, with the Rev. Cassie Sexton-Riggs officiating.
Mrs. Titsworth was born April 13, 1943, in Litchfield, to Gerald Eugene and Helen Faye (Gates) Holliday. She married Elvis Lee Titsworth on March 5, 1966, at the First Baptist Church in Litchfield, and he survives.
She graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1961, and attended Eastern Illinois University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s and masters in education.
“Mrs. T,” as she was known, was a teacher with the Litchfield Community School District #12 for 36 years before her retirement in 2002. She also taught evening classes at Lincoln Land Community College and provided private tutoring.
She was a member of Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield, where she served as a deaconess and elder; the Litchfield Country Club; and PEO Sorority. She also volunteered her time helping with Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Titsworth enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques and planning and helping build her new home. She was a proud Meema and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Amy (Dan) Newkirk of Litchfield; brother, Jerry (Ruth) Holliday of Raymond; sister, Kathy (Pat) Fitzgerald of Indian Land, SC; two grandchildren, Betsy (Jake) Szerletich and Seth Newkirk; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Chloe Szerletich; and a special family friend, Grace Ballard.
Mrs. Titsworth was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Thomas Holliday.
