Nancy L. Atkins, 61, of Greenville, died Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home with the Rev. Tyson Graber officiating. Interment will follow at McKendree Chapel Cemetery in Keyesport.
Mrs. Atkins was born Dec. 28, 1958, in Du Quoin, the daughter of Delbert and Pauline (Hood) Ellis. She married Les Atkins in Granite City on July 15, 1977, and he survives in Greenville.
She previously worked as a daycare teacher and a nurse’s aide. She enjoyed gardening, making crafts and drawing. She served as a pastor’s wife for many years. Recently, she became a great-grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Laura (husband Mark) Garmon of Hillsboro and Heather (husband Nick) Watson of Greenville; grandchildren, Cole Clark, Kyle Clark, Leanna Watson, Megan Garmon and Miah Garmon; and great-granddaughter, Novah Clark.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Caroline Carpenter, Judy Ellis and Debbie Wood.
Memorials may be made to the family and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home at 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
