Nancy Sue Miller, 76, of Hillsboro, died at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab Center in Taylor Springs.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Mrs. Miller was born on Nov. 17, 1942, in Hillsboro, to Hugh and Verna Helen (Rice) Atterberry. She married Kenny Miller, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Miller graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1960, and graduated from Cal State University, CA, in 1970, with a bachelor's degree in English and psychology. In 1982, she received a masters degree in education from Sangamon State University in Springfield. She was employed as an English teacher at Auburn High School in 1973. She worked at the school for 32 years before retiring in 2005.

Mrs. Miller is survived by one brother, David (Marla) Atterberry of Coffeen; two sisters, Verna Buerkett of Springfield, and Beverly (Kenneth) Meyer of Hillsboro; 13 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Steve Atterberry and Donald Atterberry; and four nephews.
