Ned R. Hicks, Jr., 75, of Nokomis, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at Nokomis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Graveside services will be held at a later date. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family.
Mr. Hicks was born June 14, 1944, in Peoria, to Ned and Freda (Rhodes) Hicks, Sr. He married Mayme Mathis, and they later divorced.
He graduated from Nokomis High School with the class of 1961, and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army Infantry in Vietnam.
Mr. Hicks worked for many years and retired as a corrections counselor in St. Charles.
He is survived by his son, Ryan (Angelique) Hicks of Columbia; daughter, Heidi (Peter) Graves of Godfrey; grandchildren, Carter and Logan Hicks and Julia and Nolan Graves.
Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Connie Linville and Janet Boone.
Memorials may be directed to St. Louis Catholic School in Nokomis.
