Nettie Ann (Milligan) Welch, 86, of Worden, died on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Heritage Health: Therapy and Senior Care in Litchfield.

Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Worden City Cemetery. Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton assisted the family.

Mrs. Welch was born July 4, 1934, in Hillsboro, to Bert and Mary (Everett) Milligan. She married Kenneth Welch on July 28, 1956, in Worden, and he survives.

During her lifetime, she worked numerous jobs while maintaining a house and shuttling her children and grandchildren to activities.

Mrs. Welch enjoyed long country rides with her husband, yard sales, the “GW” mall and the flowers in her yard. Her joy in life were her family and friends.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a loyal friend. She was always there and showed love and support to everyone who crossed her path, as she never knew a stranger. Her memory lives on through fond remembrances of trips to the Ripson Bridge, family dinners, Bingo and talks over coffee (“jet fuel”) at the kitchen table.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Welch is survived by her daughter, Gladys (Welch) Arnold of Staunton; her grandchildren, Molly (McMahon) Wells, John (wife Rachel) McMahon, Becky Arnold and Monica McMahon; great-grandchildren, Landon and Kenzie Wells, Eli McMahon and her namesake, Nettie Ann Knott; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruby Bourke; and daughter, Maryann (Welch) McMahon.

Memorials may be directed to the Worden Volunteer Fire Department.
