A private service will be held at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau, MO, at a later date. Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, MO, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Stevenson was born Feb. 27, 1931, in Crawford County, to Vernon and Fannie Jones. She married Robert L. Stevenson on July 10, 1954, and he preceded her in death in 1998. She later married Roy L. Monke on Dec. 4, 2005, at Abbey Road Christian Church in Cape Girardeau, MO, and he survives.

She was a lifelong member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), serving as deacon and elder. She volunteered her time for The Red Cross, the Senior Center, The League of Women Voters and Hearts United in Litchfield.

Following the death of her first husband, Mrs. Stevenson spent time caregiving and visiting family members.

She met her second husband in early 2005. After their marriage, they moved to Mt. Olive and spent several years traveling the U.S., from Key West to Alaska, in their RV. She, along with Roy, was active in the local chapter of Senior Achievers, enjoying the monthly meetings and field trips.

Mrs. Stevenson enjoyed sewing, crochet, needlepoint, and was an avid baker, gardener and bird watcher. She was also a fierce player in Dominos. She will be dearly missed by those who love her.

In addition to her husband Roy, she is survived by her children, Linda Stevenson Green of Cape Girardeau, MO, Nancy Stevenson (Dan) Matherne of Antioch, TN, and Robert L. (Karen) Stevenson, Jr. of Cape Girardeau, MO; her sister, Juanita Lewis of Oblong; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her first husband, Mrs. Stevenson was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Price and Naomi Deaver; and brothers, James and Jack Jones.

Memorials may be directed to Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield, Abbey Road Christian Church in Cape Girardeau, MO, or Immanuel Lutheran Church in Litchfield.
