The Nokomis Homecoming Association met on Wednesday, May 6 via a Zoom meeting and have come to the conclusion that they have no other options than to cancel the festivities for Nokomis Homecoming 2020.
“Please understand that the decision was not taken lightly and all options were researched in advance,” the Nokomis Homecoming Association said in a statement. “Given the projected social distancing standards set by our state for COVID-19, it is impossible to plan for the future events of our homecoming.”
The group also addressed the fact that the difficult decision may not be a popular one for some.
“We are aware that this will upset many members of our community, as it does our entire committee,” the statement read. “We ask for your understanding in this situation as we put all of our efforts into an even better Nokomis Homecoming 2021. This is an unfortunate situation for our community, please be safe. See you next year!”
