Norma 'Annie' Booth, 89

Norma “Annie” Booth, 89, of Sorento, died at 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019, at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, located at 201 South Main Street in Sorento. Funeral services will begin at noon at the funeral home, with Rev. Tom Brewer officiating. Interment will follow the ceremony at Sunnyside Cemetery in Sorento. Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Booth was born on July 8, 1930, in Sorento, to Clarence “Bud” and Estella “May” (McGilvary) File.  She married Chester “Sam” Booth on August 7, 1954, in Alton. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2007.

Mrs. Booth is described as having been feisty with an incredible work ethic - work was her life.  She retired from Owen’s Glass after 27 years of service. Following retirement, she went on to clean houses and managed many laundromats, until the age of 88. In her spare time, she enjoyed yard work, tending to her flowers and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. 

Mrs. Booth is survived by her children, Kathy Allen of Hillsboro and Steve Booth of Nashville, IN; grandchildren, Hunter and Lexi Booth of Sorento; siblings, Donna (Burl) Vogel of Hillsboro, Donald “Buster” (Donna) File of Vandalia, Fern Johnson of MO, Gary File of Sorento, Judy (Jim) Dunn of FL, and David “Bobby” (Lou) File of Worden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Ramona Lallish; sisters, Ida Titsworth and June Carter; and brothers, Albert, Loyd and Ronald File.
