Norma Jean (Stringer) Dixon, 88, lifelong resident of Morrisonville, died on Friday, March 27, 2020, at 3:15 a.m. at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Private family ceremonies will be held with the Rev. Chad Foster officiating. Interment will follow the ceremonies at Morrisonville Cemetery. Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville is assisting the family.

Mrs. Dixon was born Dec. 4, 1931, in Morrisonville, to James and Mary Frances (Freese) Stringer. She married Earl S. Dixon on March 15, 1948, in Pana, and he survives.

She was a homemaker while her husband worked in the coal mine and was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Morrisonville.

Mrs. Dixon loved shopping and trips she and her husband would take to the Grand Canyon and Arizona.

In addition to her husband of over 72 years, she is survived by her children, David Earl Dixon of Dallas, TX, Linda Traylor of Springfield and Rickey Dixon of Taylorville; grandchildren, James Merrifield, Brooke Herrick, Amber Dixon and Rachel Dixon; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Gloria Jean Dixon; daughter-in-law, June Dixon; brothers, Chester Gibson and Wayne Slagel; and sisters, Virginia Hendricks and Dorothy Patraski.
