Norman Jacob Huisman, 86, of Donnellson, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021 at 10:17 p.m. at Hillsboro Area Hospital.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and burial will be at Donnellson Cemetery in Donnellson. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by the Department of Defense and American Legion Post #425. The Rev. Randy Sands, Pastor of the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church in Hillsboro will officiate.

Mr. Huisman was born on May 22, 1935 in Walshville, the son of Russell and Lottie (Graham) Huisman. He married Sharen File on July 23, 1963 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

Mr. Huisman served for two years with the U.S. Army and two years in the National Guard. He did his basic training at Fort Polk in Louisiana, and went to mechanic school at Fort Chaffee in Arkansas. He drove a truck at Fort Lewis in Washington. He later worked for Eagle Zink in Hillsboro, the Donnellson elevator, and for Ameren for 19 years.

He was a member of the Donnellson Presbyterian Church, the Hillsboro VFW, and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife and daughter Shauna Huisman of Donnellson.

Mr. Huisman was preceded in death by his parents.
