Norman James Schlotthauer, 80, of Litchfield, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at 1:34 p.m. in his home.

Private family memorial services will be held at a later date in Gering, NE. Plummer Funeral Services in Litchfield is assisting the family.

Mr. Schlotthauer was born March 11, 1939, in Morrill, NE, a son of Jacob and Anna Marie (Weimer) Schlotthauer. 

A 1957 graduate of Morrill High School, he went on to Neosha, MO, where he obtained a bachelor's degree. He was a chemist for the St. Louis County Water Department–Missouri American Water Company.

Following the Lutheran Faith, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. 

A member of Pheasants Forever, he was a member of Crestwood, MO, Elks Club.

He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly (Glenn) Bishop of Litchfield and Tracy (Viken) Wellman of Newhall, IA; and two granddaughters, Ashley (Tim) Langen of Canyon, TX, and Kelley  (Matthew) Justice of Clarksville, TN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, David and Jacob Schlotthauer and Marvin Schlotthauer in infancy; six sisters, Amelia Heimbouch, Anne Siebenaler, Esther Minch, Maria Schlotthauer in infancy, Leona Deines and Amalia Tripple; and one grandson, Viken Joshua Clayton "Josh" Wellman.

Memorials may be made to the Litchfield Food Pantry or Pheasants Forever.
